Transform Your Smile with Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is one of the most versatile, affordable, and immediate cosmetic dental treatments available and one of the most underappreciated. Using the same tooth-colored composite resin material as our fillings, bonding allows us to repair chipped, cracked, gapped, stained, or slightly misshapen teeth in a single appointment, with results that look completely natural and require no permanent alteration to your tooth structure.

At Rollstone Family Dental, we provide dental bonding for patients across Fitchburg, Leominster, Lunenburg, Townsend, Ashburnham, and Ayer who want to improve the appearance of their smile without the cost or complexity of veneers or crowns. Whether you've chipped a front tooth, want to close a small gap, or simply want to even out an uneven smile, our team will walk you through whether bonding is the right solution and deliver a result that looks like it was always part of your natural tooth.

What Is Dental Bonding?

Dental bonding is a cosmetic and restorative procedure in which a tooth-colored composite resin material is applied directly to the surface of a tooth, shaped and sculpted to the desired form, and then hardened in place using a special curing light. The result is a seamless addition to the tooth that can repair damage, improve shape, close gaps, cover discoloration, and build up areas of wear, all in a single appointment and without the need for anesthesia in most cases.

What Dental Bonding Can Treat

  • Repair Chipped Teeth: Restore chipped or cracked teeth with a natural-looking finish.
  • Cover Tooth Discoloration: Conceal stains that don't respond to professional whitening.
  • Close Small Gaps: Improve your smile by closing minor spaces between teeth.
  • Reshape Teeth: Correct uneven, worn, or misshapen teeth for a more balanced appearance.
  • Restore Worn Edges: Rebuild teeth worn down by grinding or everyday wear.
  • Protect Exposed Roots: Cover sensitive tooth roots caused by gum recession.
  • Repair Minor Fractures: Strengthen and restore small tooth fractures without extensive treatment.

1

Consultation & Treatment Planning

We begin with a conversation about what you'd like to change or improve — whether that's repairing a chip, closing a gap, covering a stain, or reshaping a tooth. We'll evaluate whether bonding is the right solution or whether another option like a veneer or crown would better serve your goals, and we'll show you exactly what the result will look like before we begin.

2

Shade Selection

We carefully select a composite resin shade that closely matches the natural color of your surrounding teeth, ensuring the bonded area blends seamlessly and is virtually undetectable. This step is especially important for front teeth where even a slight shade difference can be noticeable.

3

Tooth Preparation

In most cases, bonding requires very little tooth preparation. We apply a mild conditioning gel to the surface of the tooth to create a slightly textured surface that allows the composite resin to bond firmly. Anesthesia is rarely needed for bonding unless we're also treating decay or the bonding is very close to a nerve.

4

Applying the Composite Resin

The tooth-colored composite resin is applied to the tooth in a putty-like state, allowing us to sculpt and shape it precisely to the desired form. We build the bonding in layers where needed, ensuring we achieve the right shape, contour, and proportion for a natural result.

5

Curing & Hardening

Once the composite is shaped to our satisfaction, we use a special curing light to harden each layer of material, bonding it permanently to the tooth surface and creating a strong, durable restoration.

6

Shaping, Trimming & Polishing

After curing, we carefully trim, shape, and polish the bonded area to match the natural texture and sheen of your surrounding teeth. This finishing step is what separates a bonding result that looks natural from one that looks like dental work and it's something we take particular care with.

7

Bite Check & Final Review

We check your bite to ensure the bonded tooth doesn't interfere with your natural bite pattern, make any final adjustments, and then walk you through the result together. Most patients are genuinely surprised by how natural the final result looks.

Dental Bonding With or Without Insurance

Dental bonding coverage varies by insurance plan and by the reason for treatment. When bonding is performed for restorative purposes, repairing a chipped or fractured tooth, for example, many plans provide at least partial coverage. When performed purely for cosmetic reasons, coverage is less common. We verify your specific coverage before your appointment and provide a clear cost estimate in advance.

For patients without insurance, our in-house Dental Membership Plan includes 20% off all treatments beyond your included preventive care which applies to the cost of dental bonding.

Please note: We do not currently accept MassHealth.

I can’t say enough about this office! I have such a phobia with the dentist, and everyone here has been so friendly and gentle from the minute I walked in! They are flexible and got my appointment moved up, they are fairly priced, and just overall an amazing practice! Seriously can’t recommend Dr. Mark and team enough especially if you are a baby when it comes to dental work! Both Gabrielle and his other assistance were both great as well! Such a good experience compared to past ones I have had.

Tanya was awesome. I am afraid of dentists and she made it a very comfortable visit. Also when I went in for the dental work ( I am petrified of dentists) it was amazing. Dr. Mark was kind and gentle, and Gabriel was so good he even helped me with my internet (So I could listen to music to take my mind off of the fillings).
I would highly recommend this office.
Thank you

Great top notch service, Dr. Mark is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Tori did a great job with the cleaning! Very delicate yet very efficient. Have gone to this location for quite a while and I will continue to go here. Also all other staff especially the girl at the front desk (sorry I forgot the name) are excellent and very welcoming. Keep up the good work!
