Restore Your Tooth with a Custom Dental Crown

When a tooth has been significantly damaged by decay, fracture, or extensive previous dental work, a filling often isn't enough to restore its strength and function. A dental crown covers the entire visible portion of the tooth, providing protection, durability, and a natural appearance that allows you to bite, chew, and smile with confidence again. At Rollstone Family Dental, our crowns are custom-made to match the shape, size, and color of your natural teeth, so the result looks like it belongs in your mouth, not like dental work.

We provide dental crowns for patients across Fitchburg, Leominster, Lunenburg, Townsend, Ashburnham, and Ayer who need to restore a cracked tooth, protect a tooth following a root canal, replace an old or failing crown, or strengthen a tooth that's been significantly weakened by decay. Whatever brought you to us, our team will walk you through your options clearly and build a crown that fits comfortably and lasts.

Dental Crown Materials & Options at Rollstone Family Dental

We offer several crown materials, each suited to different needs depending on the location of the tooth, the bite forces involved, and your aesthetic priorities. During your consultation, we'll recommend the option that best fits your specific situation.
  • Porcelain Crowns - Offers the most natural, tooth-like appearance and are an excellent choice for front teeth where aesthetics are the top priority.
  • Porcelain-Fused-to-Metal Crowns - Combines the strength of a metal base with a porcelain exterior, offering durability and a natural look, well suited for molars and back teeth.
  • Zirconia Crowns - Extremely strong and durable while still offering a natural appearance, making them a popular choice for both front and back teeth.
  • All-Metal Crowns - Offers exceptional strength and longevity, typically recommended for back molars where chewing forces are highest and aesthetics are less of a priority.

What to Expect When Getting a Dental Crown

Here's exactly what happens when you come in for a dental crown at Rollstone Family Dental, a careful, two-visit process designed to deliver a precise, comfortable, long-lasting result.

1

Comprehensive Exam & X-Rays

2

Tooth Preparation

3

Impression & Temporary Crown

4

Custom Crown Fabrication

5

Final Fitting & Placement

6

Aftercare & Long-Term Maintenance

1

Comprehensive Exam & X-Rays

We begin with a thorough exam and digital X-rays to evaluate the condition of the tooth, the surrounding bone, and the root structure. This tells us whether a crown is the right solution and helps us plan the procedure with precision.

2

Tooth Preparation

The damaged or decayed portion of the tooth is removed, and the remaining tooth structure is reshaped to properly support the crown. We use local anesthesia to keep you comfortable throughout this step.

3

Impression & Temporary Crown

We take a precise impression of your prepared tooth, which is used to fabricate your custom permanent crown. While your permanent crown is being made, we place a temporary crown to protect the tooth and allow you to eat and speak comfortably in the meantime.

4

Custom Crown Fabrication

Your crown is custom-made to match the shape, size, and shade of your surrounding teeth, ensuring a natural, seamless appearance. We select the crown material best suited to the location of the tooth, the bite forces it will need to withstand, and your aesthetic preferences.

5

Final Fitting & Placement

At your second visit, we remove the temporary crown and check the fit, bite, and appearance of your permanent crown before securing it in place. We make any necessary adjustments to ensure it feels completely natural and comfortable.

6

Aftercare & Long-Term Maintenance

We'll provide guidance on caring for your new crown, including any adjustments to your oral hygiene routine. With proper care and regular checkups, a well-made crown can last for many years, often a decade or more.

I can’t say enough about this office! I have such a phobia with the dentist, and everyone here has been so friendly and gentle from the minute I walked in! They are flexible and got my appointment moved up, they are fairly priced, and just overall an amazing practice! Seriously can’t recommend Dr. Mark and team enough especially if you are a baby when it comes to dental work! Both Gabrielle and his other assistance were both great as well! Such a good experience compared to past ones I have had.

I had a great experience during my first visit to SmileCare Dental of Fitchbirg! From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming, professional, and made me feel at ease. The office is clean and modern, and everything was explained to me clearly throughout the process. Gabriel (sp?) and Dr. Mark were very kind and patient I really appreciated the attention to detail and the care I received. Looking forward to continuing my dental care here—highly recommend!

Tanya was awesome. I am afraid of dentists and she made it a very comfortable visit. Also when I went in for the dental work ( I am petrified of dentists) it was amazing. Dr. Mark was kind and gentle, and Gabriel was so good he even helped me with my internet (So I could listen to music to take my mind off of the fillings).
I would highly recommend this office.
Thank you

Great top notch service, Dr. Mark is very friendly and makes you feel at home. Tori did a great job with the cleaning! Very delicate yet very efficient. Have gone to this location for quite a while and I will continue to go here. Also all other staff especially the girl at the front desk (sorry I forgot the name) are excellent and very welcoming. Keep up the good work!
