Keep it moist — in milk, saline, or tucked between your cheek and gum — and get to our office immediately. Time is critical: the sooner you arrive, ideally within 30 to 60 minutes, the greater the chance of successfully reimplanting the tooth. Do not attempt to reimplant a baby tooth.
Take over-the-counter pain relief as directed on the packaging — ibuprofen is often most effective for dental pain as it also reduces inflammation. Avoid very hot or cold foods and beverages, which can intensify the pain. Do not place aspirin directly on the tooth or gum. Call us as early as possible so we can get you seen the same day.
